BLUE BUSTAMANTE

Directed by: Miko Livelo 2013 | 87 min.

Section: Spotlight on the Philippines

Premiere: United States

Synopsis

George Bustamante is a loving young father and husband. He wants a better life for his family, so he decides to relocate them from the Philippines to Japan. Unfortunately, he loses his job shortly after their arrival. Instead of packing up the family and heading home, George searches for a new job and keeps his firing a secret. After a series of comic events, he somehow finds work as a stuntman in a Super Sentai-type TV program similar to Power Rangers. Unbeknownst to his family, he now earns a living as “Blue Force,” a superhero that punishes evildoers and monsters.

But George soon realizes that being “super” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. He then must decide between his monster-bashing TV persona or accepting his responsibilities as a family man. So, what’s he going to be? The Overseas Filipino Worker that his family knows him to be or the spandex-wearing superhero his six-year-old son adores?
