No matter how financially desperate you are, nothing good can come from finding a huge bag of money, especially dirty money that’s accompanied by a mysterious corpse. This is the situation in which Chloe (Alice Eve of STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS), a struggling motel owner, finds herself. When a nearly blind Polish gangster named Topo (Bryan Cranston of BREAKING BAD) comes to retrieve the bag, he discovers the cash has somehow passed into the hands of a crooked cop. This leaves the eyesight-challenged criminal with only one choice: take Chloe and her daughter hostage so they can become his eyes.
The second feature from director Tze Chun (HIFF 2009 Emerging Filmmaker Winner for CHILDREN OF INVENTION) and part-time Hawaii resident and Independent Spirit Award winning producer Mynette Louie, COLD COMES THE NIGHT is a deft thriller set in smalltown America, in the same vein as the Coens’ BLOOD SIMPLE and Sam Raimi’s A SIMPLE PLAN.
In addition to breakout star Alice Eve and Emmy Award-winning Bryan Cranston, the film’s cast also includes strong performances from Logan Marshall-Green (PROMETHEUS), Ursula Parker (Louie) and Leo Fitzpatrick (The Wire).
