Jack (Pachara Chirathivat), Bee (Jarinporn Joonkiat) and Pam (Pattarasaya Kreuasuwansri) share a New York apartment far away from their home country of Thailand. On New Year's Eve they decide they'll have a little pre-countdown celebration of their own and invite over their friend's punctual weed supplier, Jesus (David Asavanond). As the night progresses, the three enjoy his herbal gifts, but become wary of his boisterous personality. However, when they ask him to leave, they find out the Jesus party is just getting started.
COUNTDOWN is punctuated with energetic camerawork as guided by director Nattawut Poonpiriya, and Asavanond's performance as Jesus provides a strong core to the insanity. As the world waits for the ball to drop, these three Thai slackers are in over their head, as they descend into a psychological game of violence and torture. COUNTDOWN successfully puts to film that oldest of precautionary adages, "Always know your dealer."
