DOCUMENTED is the uplifting and heartbreaking true story of Pulitzer prize-winning Filipino journalist Jose Antonio Vargas, who "outed" himself as an undocumented immigrant in 2011, risking his freedom, his career, and his adopted homeland.

Jose's grandparents brought him to America as a child without telling him he had false papers, assuming that when he grew up he could get a menial job to stay under the radar until he could marry an American girl. These modest career plans didn't work out when Jose turned out to be a brilliant student and became a famous journalist, and the marriage-for-citizenship plan fell through when Jose turned out to be gay.  After writing the story revealing his status, Jose created an organization to promote paths to citizenship for undocumented immigrants while waiting for what he assumed was inevitable deportation.  Touching and exhilirating, DOCUMENTED will leave you smiling through your tears.
