Disgraced by an ill-fated drug sting, ex-cop Dae-ho (Lee Sung-Min, THE ATTORNEY, KUNDO, A VIOLENT PROSECUTOR) stays busy as the unofficial ‘sheriff’ of a small town near Busan. Though he pines for his days as a detective, Dae-ho enjoys considerable favor with the locals, and has his own ‘crew’ of enforcers to assist with his personal crime fighting efforts. But when new businessman Dong-jin (Cho Jin-Woong, also in this years MAN OF WILL, as well as ASSASSINATION, BLUEBEARD, and THE HANDMAIDEN) arrives in town and wins the townspeople's favor to start a beach resort, he suddenly becomes the instant favorite in the community. Dae-ho is suspicious.

Believing that Dong-jin was somehow involved in the drug sting that got him fired, he begins an ‘unofficial’ investigation, drawing his friends and his family into his seemingly haphazard plan to bring Dong-jin down….Equal parts action and comedy, and a thrill ride throughout, THE SHERIFF IN TOWN is one of the most entertaining films at HIFF 2017!
