POISONING PARADISE tells the story of a radical new law that would protect Kauai residents from “Restricted Use” pesticides applied by agrochemical companies on thousands of acres of GMO crops across the island. Activism against these multinational corporations is nothing short of a revolution, mobilizing a multi-generational, multi-racial political movement and pits the people against modern day “Goliaths” in a showdown whose outcome is still to be determined.

Hawaii is a microcosm for both the world’s food problems and solutions. More GMO seeds are grown on Hawaii, per acre, than anywhere in the United States. It also has the highest food prices in the nation. Yet, just 200 years ago, Hawaiians had one of the most advanced organic farming systems ever documented. Island Earth follows the lives of a handful of Hawaiians seeking to use the wisdom of the past to make Hawaii a beacon of hope for an uncertain future.
